It's an exciting time to be an author. The opportunities to self-publish your book and spread the word about it are practically endless and are limited only by your budget and time. Of course, certain types of books will have a wider audience than others, but if you are interested enough to write your book, there are probably people who are interested enough to read it. On the other hand, if you're a book lover who wants to rest your eyes from reading too much, you can relax on sites like 슬롯사이트.

If you want to self-publish, here are a few tips to spread the word about your creation.

  • Be visible! Readers are more likely to stumble upon you and your book when you are everywhere, both online and offline. Build a Facebook page for your book, start a Twitter account, write a blog. Find other authors and comment on their blogs. Join discussions in Facebook and LinkedIn groups. Offer to become a speaker at networking events and ask if you can give away a copy of your book to someone in the audience.  Join up with other authors and do a book signing at a local pub or restaurant and invite all of your friends and relatives. Offer to promote other authors in social media if they agree to do the same for you.
  • "Self-publishing" doesn't mean "isolated" publishing. Just because you are self-publishing does not mean that you shouldn't demand excellence. For your book's cover, consult with a graphic designer who has actually done other book cover designs. For your editing and proofreading, don't rely on yourself - you won't catch as many mistakes or structural issues as someone else will. For the page layouts for your book's hard copies, work with a printer who knows how to set them up properly. For your Kindle edition, talk to someone who has had experience with formatting books for Kindle. You'll get better results and better reviews if you consult with other people.
  • Give something away. People love free stuff. You could give away an excerpt from your book or a short story as a free download.  Give them a taste of what they could get if they purchase your book. Use Facebook, Twitter and Google+ to give people a link for a free download. You can set up a simple blog site for your book on WordPress.com or Blogger.com to do this.
  • Think about marketing your book as a long-term endeavor. Unless your book has really time-sensitive material, you can take your time building up interest and an audience. Of course everyone wants to make a bunch of money right away, but the reality is that most books sell a few units here and there for years. Don't expect to do one big marketing "push" and then think that you're all done.
  • Start a newsletter and/or blog. Get you fans to subscribe to your periodic email updates. This is a great way to let people know what you are up to and it's also excellent content for social media. Many people like to know about how authors come up with their stories and characters.

If you're an author and have self-published and/or marketed your own book, do you have any tips to add?
