What is "File Ready Artwork" for a printed book?

When we say "File Ready" artwork, it is referring to a file that is ready for production including all the required settings for printing. When you use our art department to prepare your manuscript for production, we provide you with the final files that are "File or Production Ready".

File Ready Cover Artwork

The production file for cover art includes the front and back cover as well as a spine sized for the books final page count and includes bleeds and crop marks. Supplying a cover image and back cover is not file ready. You can use our layout template calculator to determine the correct size for spine and bleeds based on your books size, paper weight and page count:

File Ready Inside Page Artwork

The inside page layout should include all the pages with correct margins in a PDF file. A Microsoft Word File is NOT "File Ready" artwork because when transferred to another computer, the pages will not format the same way meaning chapters may start in the wrong place and fonts can be different. When we receive a Microsoft Word file, we need to redo layout from front to back and provide proofs.

Cover and Inside Page Design Packages

We offer a range of cost effective design services for either your cover or inside pages. You will receive proofs of your book as well as final production files of work that we perform.
