10% Over / Under Charge

10% Over / Under Charge

In printing, the standard practice is that the order is acceptable if it is within 10% of the ordered quantity. Any under or over run is adjusted from the final price based on the actual amount produced. This practice was developed to avoid generally higher pricing for all printing that would result from providing a guarantee of an exact quantity.

In practice today when you order 100 books, we print 110 books and generally yield between 95 and 105. If you need to have a guarantee that you have exactly 100 books the unit price is higher. We produce 120 books and discard the extra's (because you ordered exactly 100 no more no less). This is more expensive than producing 110 but is the only way we can guarantee not having a problem and being short.

In general, it is a better value to choose 10% over or under and take the final quantity that is produced. If you have questions with this, please contact Customer Service for clarification.
